Videos Duties Help The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex comb, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having compliced mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees. (1) Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, comb, tactical, and automotive vehicles. (2) Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. (3) Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. (4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locions. (5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associed equipment supported by the activity.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS & NOTES
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or terminion of these military incentives. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Work is covered by the 5800-job family which includes occupions involved in repairing, adjusting, and maintaining self-propelled transportion and other mobile equipment (except aircraft), including any special purpose feures with which they may be equipped.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must possess experience or training which demonstres knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventive maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Must possess experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operion, and working relionships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Extensive knowledge of ste of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumic, and other major non-mechanical systems th have a functional relionship and effect on the operion of major mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumic, electrical, and electronic controls. Skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modificions to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modificions to meet special test requirements or other special needs.
