HVAC OPERATIONS MANAGER AND LEAD DUCTLESS HEAT-PUMP INSTALLER AJC
Electric Inc.
Belchertown and Western MassachusettsCompensation:
$35-$45 per hour, based on experience.

Full-Time Position.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY AJC
Electric Inc. is launching a dedicated ductless heat-pump installation division serving Western Massachusetts. We are seeking an experienced HVAC professional to help build, lead, and grow this division. This is a hands-on leadership position. The selected candidate will initially lead installations in the field while helping develop our installation procedures, train new employees, maintain quality standards, and build multiple independent ductless installation crews. The person hired for this position will play a major role in building that operation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead residential and light-commercial ductless heat-pump installations. Install single-zone and multi-zone ductless systems. Plan equipment placement, line-set routing, condensate drainage, mounting methods, and installation procedures. Perform nitrogen pressure testing, evacuation, micron testing, refrigerant procedures, startup, commissioning, and system testing. Diagnose installation problems, refrigerant issues, equipment faults, and system-performance concerns. Train and supervise ductless heat-pump installers and HVAC helpers. Develop standardized installation procedures, checklists, quality-control requirements, and commissioning documentation. Build and develop additional crew leaders as the division expands. Review upcoming installations and confirm labor, equipment, tools, and material requirements. Coordinate daily installation schedules with company management and the office. Monitor job progress, labor productivity, workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. Conduct jobsite inspections and direct corrective work when necessary. Maintain accurate job notes, photographs, equipment information, startup documentation, and completion records. Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding system operation, project progress, and installation concerns. Maintain company tools, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, gauges, vehicles, and installation equipment. Follow all manufacturer instructions, EPA requirements, safety procedures, and applicable Massachusetts codes. Coordinate electrical requirements with AJC Electric's licensed electrical division.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EPA
Section 608 Universal Certification. At least five years of professional HVAC installation or service experience. Strong experience installing and commissioning ductless mini-split heat-pump systems. Ability to independently complete pressure testing, evacuation, micron testing, charging, startup, and commissioning. Strong understanding of single-zone and multi-zone system installations. Experience leading employees, training installers, or managing field crews. Ability to diagnose and resolve installation and system-performance problems. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to safely lift equipment and perform physical installation work. Strong organization, communication, leadership, and customer-service skills. Commitment to quality, accountability, integrity, safety, and professional workmanship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Manufacturer training or certifications from Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin, LG, Samsung, Bosch, or similar manufacturers. NATE certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. A2L refrigerant-safety training. Experience performing load calculations and equipment selection. Experience developing installation crews, operating procedures, or an HVAC department. Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician or Refrigeration Contractor license, although this is not required for the residential under-10-ton work performed by this division.
COMPENSATION AND OPPORTUNITY
Starting compensation of $35-$45 per hour, depending on field experience, leadership experience, and employment classification. Company fuel card, select tools, and installation equipment. Paid manufacturer training and professional-development opportunities. Opportunity to build and lead a growing HVAC division with significant long-term advancement potential. Additional company benefits will be reviewed during the first year of employment. The ideal candidate is not simply looking for another HVAC installation job. We are looking for a leader who wants to build an operation, develop employees, establish high standards, and take ownership of a growing division. AJC Electric Inc. is an equal-opportunity employer.
