Z & T HVAC Solutions

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician

Job Description

HVAC Service & Installation Technician — Longview, TX $20-$25/hour DOE | Part-Time to Full-Time Growth Opportunity
Z & T HVAC
Solutions is a small, locally owned HVAC company serving East Texas, and we're looking for the right person to grow with us. We're still a young company, so this isn't necessarily a 40-hour-per-week position on day one. Initially, hours may vary based on workload, with the opportunity to transition into a regular full-time position as we continue to grow. We're looking for someone who wants to get in early and grow with the business. What You'll Be Doing This is a mixed service and installation position. Depending on the week, you may be: Running residential HVAC service calls independently Troubleshooting electrical, airflow, refrigeration, and mechanical problems Performing repairs and equipment maintenance Helping with residential system replacements/change-outs Assisting with new-construction rough-ins and ductwork Working on light commercial HVAC projects Assisting with commercial construction projects, including our Dollar General work Working independently on some jobs and alongside the owners on others We're a small operation, so everybody does a little bit of everything. Who We're Looking For This is not an entry-level training position. We don't expect you to know everything, but we do need someone with enough mechanical/HVAC experience to hit the ground running and safely handle basic service work without constant supervision. You should already be comfortable with things such as: Using a multimeter and diagnosing basic electrical problems Understanding the refrigeration cycle Using HVAC gauges and service equipment Diagnosing and replacing common components such as capacitors, contactors, motors, etc. Basic refrigerant charging and system diagnostics Brazing and basic installation practices Working safely around electrical and mechanical equipment Communicating professionally with customers Traditional HVAC experience is great, but it isn't the only background we'll consider. College engineering, engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or similar students/graduates with strong hands-on mechanical experience are encouraged to apply. If you're mechanically inclined, understand how equipment works, and already have enough HVAC knowledge to operate independently on basic calls, we'd like to talk to you. Requirements Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Able to work independently when needed Comfortable working in attics, outdoors, on rooftops, and in East Texas heat Able to perform the physical requirements of HVAC installation and service work Dependable and able to communicate clearly with customers and the rest of the team EPA 608 certification strongly preferred Must have enough existing HVAC/mechanical experience to work with limited supervision Having your own HVAC tools and/or a suitable work truck is a major plus. Pay & Growth Starting pay: $20-$25/hour, depending on experience and capability. We're especially interested in finding someone who wants more than just a temporary job. As Z & T grows, we want this position to grow with it — including more consistent hours, increased responsibility, higher compensation, and the potential for a long-term role within the company. We're not looking for a salesman disguised as a technician. We're looking for someone who can diagnose problems, fix equipment, build things correctly, work hard, and take care of customers. If you're mechanically capable, dependable, and interested in helping build a growing HVAC company rather than simply becoming another number at a large shop, we'd like to hear from you.
