This role helps ensure refrigeration units, coolers, freezers, display cases, and support equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, safety-conscious, and able to troubleshoot common maintenance issues in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections of refrigeration units, walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, compressors, condensers, fans, drains, and related equipment.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to refrigeration systems, doors, gaskets, shelving, lighting, temperature controls, and drainage components.
  • Monitor equipment performance, temperatures, unusual noises, leaks, frost buildup, and other signs of system issues.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, clearing drain lines, checking door seals, and removing ice buildup.
  • Report major refrigeration problems promptly and coordinate with lead Refrigeration Mechanic.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and service needs.
  • Assist with general handyman duties, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, fixture repair, and facility maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, food safety standards, and environmental requirements when working around refrigeration equipment and refrigerants.
  • Keep tools, parts, maintenance areas, and workspaces clean, organized, and safe.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance calls and urgent refrigeration-related issues to help minimize product loss and operational disruption. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in refrigeration maintenance, facility maintenance, handyman work, HVAC/R, grocery, supermarket, food service, or a related environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration equipment, temperature controls, electrical components, plumbing, and general facility repairs.
  • Ability to identify mechanical problems and determine when a licensed refrigeration is needed.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work professionally with store teams, vendors, and management.
  • Valid driver's license required . Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work with hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, and equipment as required.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments, including walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to respond to time-sensitive maintenance concerns in a busy operational setting.
Work Schedule Schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call or emergency response based on business needs.
