Empower Manufacturing, a client of Brixey & Meyer, is seeking an experienced CNC Mill Setup Operator to join its second-shift team. This is not a cycle-start-only position. You will set up and run CNC mills, verify programs, dry-run new jobs, make offsets and basic program edits, and inspect your own work before it moves to the next operation. We are looking for a machinist who takes ownership of the entire process, catches problems early, and communicates clearly with Team Leads and Quality. If you take pride in accurate work, enjoy learning different jobs and setups, and want a schedule that leaves your weekends open, this may be a great fit. What You'll Do
Set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision parts to customer specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, customer prints, work orders, and job instructions.
Verify programs, tooling, fixtures, workholding, and setup requirements.
Dry-run new programs and confirm proper machine operation before full production.
Make offsets and basic program edits to maintain required tolerances.
Inspect first pieces and finished parts using micrometers, dial calipers, thread gauges, verniers, and other precision measuring equipment.
Monitor tool wear, surface finish, and machine performance throughout the run.
Identify concerns early and work with Team Leads and Quality to resolve them.
Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation and follow all safety and quality procedures. What We're Looking For
Previous CNC mill setup and operating experience.
Ability to independently complete machine setups and read blueprints and customer specifications.
Experience performing dry runs, making offsets, and completing basic program edits.
Proficiency with standard precision measuring equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
Dependability, clear communication, and willingness to learn different programs, parts, and setups. Schedule
Second shift: Monday through Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
40 hours per week.
Optional overtime available Fridays and Saturdays. Overtime is never mandatory. Why Empower Manufacturing? Founded in 1978, Empower Manufacturing is a privately owned precision manufacturer producing custom shafts and components to customer blueprint specifications for pumps, motors, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and other industrial applications.
Four-day workweek with optional overtime.
Supportive, non-corporate environment with accessible leadership.
Opportunities to learn new machines, programs, and setups.
Culture guided by Support, Find a Way, and Pride in Product.
