ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Verify that material and paperwork for the job being performed is correct.
Plan machining in accordance with all blueprints and hard copy and electronic technical data and specifications, applying geometric dimensioning and tolerances as required.
Set-up mills by adjusting all necessary fixturing and machine attachments; setting and applying tool and machine reference points and offsets and calculating requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
Check stock and load and unload the machine.
Create an in-process inspection report for each operation, as necessary, if one does not exist.
Identify non-conformance, if discovered, notify your supervisor so that it can be documented identified, dispositioned, and segregated from the remainder of the lot.
Capable of development and implementation of CNC machining process.
Must be familiar with quality standards (ISO9001/AS9100).
Verify that there are no chips on either the jaws/fixture or on the part/material to be machined.
Load the part/material, verify that the part is properly seated in the fixture/jaws, snug against any stop pins prior to clamping or tightening of the jaws.
Identify discrepant material left in your work area, notify your supervisor so that it can be dispositioned and segregated.
Follow all quality procedures, work instructions, and documents pertaining to your job and department.
Identify any problems/issues while running an operation, notify the supervisor immediately.
Responsible for keeping the machine and the immediate area clean.
Monitor coolant levels.
Clean the chips from machine at the end of your shift, or when the job is finished.
Complete finishing and deburring on parts as necessary.
Create and edit CNC programs that support the machining of complex, precision metal components on multiple-axis CNC milling machining centers (CAM file generation, post-processor machine code generation).
Perform technical data package review of components that require fabrication (CAD model & engineering drawing validation).
Perform machining process development & optimization (part setup/fixturing, machining strategy/order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed process parameter selection).
Identify, select, and procure appropriate tooling for job specific applications (based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, system rigidity, and equipment capability).
Programming prove-out validation (computer simulation tools, First Time Process Reviews, machine dry runs).
Work with machinists and manufacturing engineers to identify process improvement opportunities (reduced machining/setup time, improved part quality, reduced manufacturing risk) and incorporate required design changes (customer driven changes, technical performance improvements, improved manufacturability).
Participate in teams comprised of machinists/operators, manufacturing engineers, production supervisors, quality engineers/inspectors, and operations/program management to support program schedule & performance goals, mitigate manufacturing risks, and improve operational efficiency.
Verify that all company and personal inspection equipment and tools being used are in calibration.
At the completion of a job, a total quantity count must be written on the route sheet along with MDR numbers, his employee number, and the date.
Should possess expertise and thorough understanding in interpreting part prints, dimensioning, as well as tolerance.
Program CNC machine based on engineering drawings and specifications.
Edit G Code programs on various machines.
Prove out and edit programs written in G Code.
Interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
Adhere to all company safety policies including the use of eye and ear protection.
Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures.
Uphold the company core values.
