$25-$50/hr Updated 08/2026 Job Description Overview $25-$50/hr Job Summary We're hiring for a fast-growing defense technology company in Dallas that is building the world's first AI-piloted autonomous aircraft. Backed by over $3B in funding and valued at $12.7B, this company is scaling production rapidly and needs experienced machinists and a senior programmer to join their machine shop team. This is prototype work. Small batch, high-mix, tight tolerances. Every part you make goes into something that flies. If you've spent your career in production shops running the same part thousands of times, this probably isn't for you. If you like solving problems, figuring out how to make parts that have never been made before, and working with a small, skilled team on something that actually matters, keep reading. Requirements We're looking for three people: CNC Machinists (2 positions, 1st and 2nd shift) 2-5 years of CNC machining experience Strong CNC milling skills (this is a milling shop, not lathe) Able to read complex drawings and interpret GD&T Basic CAM or G-code editing knowledge Can independently set up and run jobs, select tooling, speeds and feeds Comfortable performing in-process inspection and troubleshooting machining issues Experience building simple fixtures and workholding CNC Programmer (1 position, 2nd shift) 8-12+ years of experience in prototype machining and programming Advanced multi-axis programming, ideally 4 and 5-axis MasterCAM experience is required for this role Deep understanding of materials, tooling, and cutting dynamics Proven ability to take a complex prototype build from drawing to finished part Can develop CAM strategies, program toolpaths, and execute precision machining with minimal supervision Able to provide DFM input that influences design decisions Comfortable mentoring less experienced machinists What applies to all three roles:
Location:
Dallas, TX (on-site)
Engagement:
3-month contract with path to permanent employment Controls in the shop include FANUC and Siemens Cincinnati. Training on controls can be provided. Overtime is part of the gig. The team is in a high-tempo production phase and the work matters. You need to be someone who can be trusted to work independently, make smart decisions at the machine, and take ownership of your shift. Nice to have (not required): Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience Experience in high-mix, low-volume prototype or R D environments FANUC or Siemens Cincinnati experience 5-axis milling experience (machinists) This is a small, tight-knit machine shop inside a company doing something that has genuinely never been done before. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and state of the art. There is real opportunity to grow as the company scales production.
