Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining various machining equipment to produce precision metal components. Duties Set up and operate CNC machines such as lathes and milling centers, utilizing CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls to produce high-precision parts. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate manufacturing. Program CNC machinery using CAM software and manual G-code/M-code to optimize machining processes. Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other measurement tools for quality control purposes. Conduct machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance of CNC and manual machining tools. Utilize tooling, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to perform machining tasks with accuracy and safety. Inspect finished components for quality compliance through CNC quality inspection techniques and measurement in accordance with blueprints and specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity. Assist in assembly processes when required, ensuring proper fit and function of machined parts within larger assemblies. Qualifications Proven experience in CNC machining including programming with Fanuc or similar controllers; familiarity with CNC lathe and milling machines is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and manufacturing drawings accurately. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar for part design review; experience with CAD/CAM programming is highly desirable. Skilled in the use of measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, bore gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and precision measuring instruments for quality control. Knowledge of machining tools such as grinders, lathes, mills, boring bars, and manual machining techniques. Ability to read blueprints thoroughly while understanding GD&T standards for precise manufacturing tolerances. Familiarity with M-code programming for CNC operations along with basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining setups. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction on the shop floor. Excellent manual dexterity combined with strong problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly. Relevant certifications or training in CNC programming or machining are a plus but not mandatory.
