Chipton-Ross is seeking a Machinist 2 for a contract opportunity in Goleta, CA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

(REQUIRED

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

) High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Familiarity with CNC Mills and machine programming software (example Mastercam, CAMworks, etc.). Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups. Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English). Experience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-ups. Experience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain. Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods. Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Machining experience (3+ years). Must be a U.S. citizen.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as manual lathes, manual mills, CNC mills and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Responsible for quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments. makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; Care and maintenance of the equipment. Assuring tooling and materials readiness. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Provide training to others in all aspects of Mill/Lathe equipment setup, operations, and maintenance. Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize. Excellent time management skills. Ability to work independently Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, diverse environment. Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

) Experience with Fanuc and HAAS Controllers preferred. 4+ years' experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis is a plus. Proficiency in CAM programming with Mastercam preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workday.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED is required. School must be accredited.
