Machinist (Manual) - Immediate Need

Job Description

Pay:
$23.00 to $35.00 per hour (depending on experience) Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up manual machining equipment to produce precision parts according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications. Your expertise in mechanical knowledge, tooling, and measurement instruments will ensure the highest quality standards are met. Responsibilities Operate manual Lathes, Presses, saws, drill presses, cutting equipment Installs, aligns, and repairs ship machinery such as propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear, laundry and galley equipment, working from blueprints and using hand tools, calipers and micrometers. lays out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connection such as shafting and steam lines. Align reduction gears, bearing, shafting, propellers, and rudder and steering engine assemblies. Experience at least 5 years for 1st class
FAB SHOP EXPERIENCE A PLUS
. Experience at least 5 years for 1st class. Manual lathes and mills Line boring equipment Experience with shaft work, bearing fits, and repair machining Execute shaft repairs, sleeve work, flange resurfacing, and custom part fabrication Operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining tools to produce precision components Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications Set up and calibrate machinery using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments Perform routine maintenance on tools and machines to ensure optimal performance Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to complete machining tasks efficiently and accurately Support assembly processes by preparing machined components for final product integration Follow safety protocols diligently while handling equipment such as forklifts and welding tools Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including shift reports and inspection logs This role is responsible for execution, quality, and throughput of all machining activities, with a strong focus on manual machining (lathes, mills, line boring, shaft work) rather than production CNC.
