Job Description

About Gravity Manufacturing Gravity Manufacturing is a growing manufacturer in Pittsburg, Missouri, serving the energy industry and preparing for future aerospace work. We continue to invest in our employees, advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and practical process improvements. We value people who take ownership of quality, keep learning, and care for the equipment and team around them. Position Summary Gravity Manufacturing is hiring a CNC Machinist / Operator V who combines advanced setup and troubleshooting skills with the ability to create simple 2-axis turning and basic 3-axis milling programs. This is a hands-on floor position with programming, production, and operator-development responsibilities. You will work under a Shift Supervisor and collaborate with the Senior Programmer and Machine Manager. You will help turn prints into reviewed, repeatable processes while continuing to support assigned production and the technical development of the team. Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced CNC setups and troubleshooting across turning, milling, and multi-axis equipment, developing proficiency across virtually every machine and setup in the department.
  • Analyze prints, tolerances, material requirements, features, and revisions before planning the machining sequence.
  • Create simple new 2-axis turning and basic 3-axis milling programs using approved CAM or machine-side programming methods within your demonstrated scope.
  • Select and document tooling, workholding, stock requirements, coordinates, offsets, and operation sequence. Prepare setup instructions that another qualified operator can follow.
  • Verify programs using approved simulation or checking methods. Prove out work when qualified, obtain technical review, and secure required first-piece approval before normal production.
  • Maintain controlled program versions and clear setup records. Communicate changes so obsolete programs or instructions do not remain in use.
  • Resolve complex process problems, make authorized improvements, and help improve tool life, load monitoring, setup consistency, and good-part output.
  • Train and assess operators on tasks you are qualified to evaluate. Continue meeting assigned production, inspection, lot-control, MRP, machine-care, and handoff requirements. Required Qualifications
  • Advanced CNC machining experience with broad setup and troubleshooting capability in turning and milling.
  • Demonstrated ability to create simple 2-axis turning and basic 3-axis milling programs and explain the resulting code or toolpaths.
  • Strong print interpretation, process planning, tooling, workholding, and precision measurement skills.
  • Experience verifying programs, proving out work, and preparing usable setup documentation.
  • Ability to train others, work within technical review requirements, and follow problems through to a verified solution. Preferred Qualifications
  • Okuma Multus or
OSP P200/P300/P500
experience; familiarity with FANUC controls.
  • CAM, mill-turn, multi-axis, robotics, collision-avoidance, or process-standardization experience. Schedule
  • Night shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m
  • 3:00 a.m. Shift differential bonus
  • Four 10-hour shifts; full-time, in-person work in Pittsburg, Missouri.
  • Overtime may be available based on production needs and management approval. Why Join Gravity Manufacturing?
  • Health insurance, life insurance, and paid time off.
  • 401(k) with matching.
  • Professional development assistance and practical technical training.
  • Access to advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and manufacturing technology.
  • Semiannual performance reviews and skill-based advancement opportunities.
Development Opportunities Continue developing as a senior floor machinist, with potential paths into dedicated programming or manufacturing leadership as capability and openings allow. Apply Describe the machines you can set up, the programming methods you use, and examples of 2-axis turning and 3-axis milling work you have programmed.
