Job Description

About Gravity Manufacturing Gravity Manufacturing is a growing manufacturer in Pittsburg, Missouri, serving the energy industry and preparing for future aerospace work. We continue to invest in our employees, advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and practical process improvements. We value people who take ownership of quality, keep learning, and care for the equipment and team around them. Position Summary Gravity Manufacturing is hiring an Advanced CNC Machinist / Operator IV to handle difficult setups, solve recurring machining problems, and train other operators. This role is for an experienced machinist who understands why a process works and can help others run it consistently. You will work under a Shift Supervisor while collaborating with the Machine Manager and programming team. The role combines hands-on production with broad setup capability, advanced troubleshooting, practical training, and approved improvements to existing processes. Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform and support difficult setups across CNC turning, milling, and multi-axis equipment. Develop proficiency across virtually every machine and setup in the department.
  • Investigate dimensional drift, poor finish, premature tool wear, repeated alarms, workholding problems, and inconsistent production. Identify the underlying cause and verify the correction.
  • Distinguish tool-setting, machine-condition, material, measurement, program, and operator-method problems. Involve the appropriate technical owner when further support is required.
  • Make authorized feed, speed, and existing-program adjustments. Document changes, obtain required programming review, and verify the resulting quality and process stability.
  • Work with programming and the Machine Manager on tool-life management, load monitoring, setup methods, and practical cycle-time improvements.
  • Train operators on qualified setups, tooling, measurement, troubleshooting, and machine care. Demonstrate the method, observe their work, and document progress.
  • Run assigned production and support approved robot-cell setups and recoveries within your qualifications. Help prepare stable processes and clear technical handoffs.
  • Maintain required inspections, material traceability, accurate MRP records, clean work areas, and dependable equipment care while carrying out technical assignments. Required Qualifications
  • Advanced CNC machining experience with strong setup capability across turning and milling operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult machining problems using measurements and evidence.
  • Strong understanding of prints, tolerances, cutting tools, workholding, offsets, feeds, speeds, and precision inspection.
  • Ability to read existing CNC programs and make controlled process adjustments within an approved scope.
  • Ability to teach others clearly, follow through on problems, and maintain production and quality responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications
  • Okuma Multus, OSP P200/P300/P500, multi-axis machining, or automated-cell experience.
  • Experience with load monitoring, tool-life systems, collision-avoidance practices, or verified setup and cycle improvements. Schedule
  • Night shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m
  • 3:00 a.m. Shift differential bonus
  • Four 10-hour shifts; full-time, in-person work in Pittsburg, Missouri.
  • Overtime may be available based on production needs and management approval. Why Join Gravity Manufacturing?
  • Health insurance, life insurance, and paid time off.
  • 401(k) with matching.
  • Professional development assistance and practical technical training.
  • Access to advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and manufacturing technology.
  • Semiannual performance reviews and skill-based advancement opportunities.
Development Opportunities Expand into simple program creation at Level V or pursue a separate supervisory or technical role as opportunities arise.
