CNC Machinist Mountainside, NJ Full Time Key Requirements:
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on CNC turning / precision machining experience Strong experience with CNC lathe setup, programming, troubleshooting and production support Aerospace manufacturing experience is required , preferably in an AS9100 or similar quality-controlled environment Experience machining tight-tolerance precision components Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Hands-on experience with G-code, M-code, MDI programming, tool offsets, speeds/feeds and radius compensation Experience with Mastercam for CNC lathe programming and program modification is highly desirable Experience with 2-axis turning and Y-axis/live-tooling or mill-turn CNC equipment Experience with SolidWorks or comparable CAD software for CAD model interrogation Strong workholding experience with 3-jaw chucks, collets and custom soft jaws Ability to perform first-piece and in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators and other precision measuring tools Strong troubleshooting and process-improvement skills with the ability to work independently Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality and Production teams
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, program/edit and support CNC lathe production jobs Review drawings and CAD data to determine machining approach, tooling and workholding Perform machine setup, prove-outs and first-piece verification Troubleshoot tooling, setup, programming and machining issues Optimize processes to improve cycle time, quality and reduce scrap/rework Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve manufacturing and inspection issues Provide technical guidance and support to less-experienced CNC machinists
