Position Summary Beaudry Electric Motors & Controls, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manual Lathe & Drill Press Machinist to join our repair and manufacturing team. This position works in a fast-paced job shop environment supporting the repair of electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable setting up and operating manual machine tools, working from samples, measurements, drawings, and verbal instructions, and producing quality parts for a wide variety of one-off and short-run jobs. If you prefer variety over making the same part 10,000 times, this may be your kind of shop. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate manual lathes to machine, repair, and manufacture shafts, sleeves, bushings, and other components. Set up and operate manual drill presses and other shop equipment. Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, tapping, threading, reaming, and other machining operations. Machine replacement parts for electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other industrial equipment. Repair or modify existing components as needed. Read and interpret sketches, drawings, measurements, and work instructions. Accurately measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Determine proper machining methods, tooling, speeds, and feeds for a variety of materials and applications. Maintain dimensional accuracy and quality standards throughout the machining process. Work closely with technicians, mechanics, and other team members to solve repair and manufacturing challenges. Inspect machinery and equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Assist with other shop and repair duties as needed. Qualifications Previous experience operating manual lathes and drill presses required. Experience in a job shop, repair shop, or industrial maintenance environment preferred. Ability to independently set up and operate manual machine tools. Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, tolerances, speeds, and feeds. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment. Experience machining a variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and other metals. Experience repairing or manufacturing shafts, bushings, sleeves, and similar components is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to lift and move materials and parts, generally up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate machinery and work around industrial equipment. Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical activities required in a machine shop environment. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and skill level.
