5:00 AM-3:00 PM | Four 10-Hour Shifts | Direct Hire About the Role This entry-level job-shop role provides paid, hands-on training in manual and CNC lathe operation while supporting multiple areas of the shop. You will change parts and tooling, deburr and measure components, run the saw, and assist with machining, shipping and receiving, maintenance, and other daily needs. This is a job shop—not a repetitive production environment—so the work can be different every day. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM with an unpaid lunch. - Learn to safely operate manual and CNC lathes under the guidance of experienced machinists
- Assist with machine setup, part changes, tooling changes, and material handling
- Read basic blueprints and work instructions to understand part requirements
- Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other measuring tools
- Perform deburring, cleaning, and finishing operations
- Prepare materials, organize tooling, and maintain workstations
- Float between departments and assist with mills, saws, drilling, and secondary operations based on workload
- Support shipping and receiving, maintenance, and other shop needs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and safety practices
- Follow safety, quality, and production procedures and report equipment, quality, or safety concerns
- Work with team members to meet production schedules and customer deadlines Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining skills
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Dependable, positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Willingness to cross-train and work in different areas of the shop
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work safely around machinery while wearing required personal protective equipment
- Ability to work four 10-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM with an unpaid lunch
