Job Summary Manufacturing Operator - Athol, MA Job Overview Position Title Manufacturing Operator Company Emkat Staffing & Recruiting Location Athol, MA (on-site) Department Production / Extrusion Reports to Shift Supervisor Pay $17.50 per hour Shifts 2nd and 3rd shift; up to 12-hour rotating shifts Job Type Full-time, temporary to hire Emkat Staffing & Recruiting is hiring Manufacturing Operators for an established plastics manufacturer in Athol, MA that makes precision tubing and profiles for medical, industrial and commercial customers. In this role you will run production lines, help set up and change over equipment, check parts against quality specifications and keep production moving safely on your shift. Experienced extrusion operators are welcome, and we also train motivated people who are new to manufacturing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow all company and plant safety policies and procedures, including PPE and safety shoes Operate plastic extrusion and related production lines, and run two or more lines as you gain experience Help break down, clean and set up dies and tooling, and restart lines after changeovers Prepare lines for production and help reduce setup time between jobs Read shop orders, line activity sheets and key dimension sheets before and during each run Check parts with calipers, gauges and other measuring tools to make sure they meet quality specifications Produce parts at or above the required rate while keeping accuracy and quality high for the whole run Identify defects, segregate nonconforming parts and report problems to the Shift Supervisor or Quality Troubleshoot basic downstream equipment problems (pullers, cutters, coilers) Work with more than one type of plastic material and handle raw material correctly Complete production records, scrap reports and order paperwork accurately Manage materials and minimize waste and scrap Cover breaks and lunches on running lines when needed Keep the work area clean, organized and safe Help train new operators once fully trained Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Manufacturing, machine operator or production experience preferred; plastics extrusion experience is a strong plus Training provided for motivated candidates who are new to manufacturing Able to read work orders, measure parts and do basic math Able to communicate in English, both written and spoken Reliable, on time and detail-oriented Reliable transportation to Athol, MA Physical Demands Able to lift up to 50-60 lbs repeatedly Able to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12 hours Able to reach, bend and climb frequently during the shift Able to work rotating shifts, including some weekends and holidays when needed Work Environment Fast-paced plastics manufacturing plant Safety shoes or boots required Occasional exposure to dust, odors, fumes, heat and noise Why Work with Emkat Emkat Staffing & Recruiting is a locally owned staffing agency based in Lowell, MA. Pay:
