- 35 per hour | 30-40 hours per week | Shop and Event-Based Position FotoBoyz Events is seeking a skilled Fabrication Technician to build, repair, modify, and maintain custom event equipment, interactive attractions, scenic elements, and specialty event structures.
This position is ideal for an experienced fabricator, carpenter, scenic builder, woodworker, welder, or other skilled tradesperson who enjoys custom projects, problem-solving, and varied hands-on work. The strongest candidates will have solid fabrication and carpentry skills, experience working with hand and power tools, and the ability to take a project from an idea, measurement, sketch, or existing piece of equipment through completion. Additional experience with welding, equipment repair, basic electrical troubleshooting, graphics installation, or vehicle and trailer maintenance is valuable but is not required in every area. FotoBoyz will provide training on our specialized event equipment, branded installations, and internal systems. Fabrication and Carpentry Build, modify, and repair custom event equipment using wood, metal, plastics, hardware, and other materials. Construct custom pieces, supports, frames, enclosures, carts, props, and event structures. Install hinges, handles, casters, brackets, latches, supports, and other hardware. Repair damaged booths, games, scenic elements, custom activations, and event structures. Create practical solutions that improve equipment durability, transportation, storage, installation, and operation. Reinforce equipment and structures for frequent transportation and repeated event use. Take projects from an idea, rough sketch, measurement, or existing piece through fabrication and final installation. Complete work with a clean, professional finish suitable for client-facing events. Recommend improvements to construction, durability, usability, and overall design when appropriate. Equipment Repair and Maintenance Diagnose and repair issues involving photo booths, arcade-style games, LED attractions, interactive equipment, trailers, carts, and custom-built event products. Identify worn, damaged, loose, or unreliable components before they result in event-day failures. Replace hardware, components, materials, and parts as needed. Perform thorough testing and quality-control inspections before equipment leaves the shop. Maintain equipment in clean, safe, reliable, and professional condition. Complete repairs with an emphasis on long-term reliability rather than temporary fixes. Maintain repair records, preventative-maintenance schedules, and commonly needed replacement parts. Welding and Metal Fabrication Perform light welding and metal fabrication for repairs, reinforcements, frames, brackets, carts, and custom projects. Fabricate or modify metal components when required. Reinforce equipment and structures to withstand repeated transportation and event use. Recommend fabrication improvements that increase strength, safety, and ease of handling. Welding and metal fabrication experience are strongly preferred but are not required for every qualified candidate. Graphics and Custom Branding Assist with vinyl, decals, printed graphics, signage, and branded event installations. Prepare and clean surfaces before graphics installation. Measure and align graphics carefully for a clean, professional finish. Assist with trimming, mounting, laminating, and finishing printed graphics as needed. Install branded panels, signage, scenic elements, and other custom components. Help ensure completed activations match approved designs and presentation standards before delivery. Previous graphics installation experience is helpful but not required. Training can be provided. Event Setup and Field Support Support approximately two or more events per week, depending on the production schedule. Load, transport, unload, install, test, troubleshoot, and break down event equipment. Perform on-site repairs and technical troubleshooting when necessary. Assist with the installation of custom-built activations and event structures. Safely operate company vans and box trucks. Communicate professionally with clients, planners, venue personnel, and vendor partners. Ensure equipment is clean, safe, fully operational, and presentation-ready before guests arrive. Some evening and weekend work is required, including occasional Saturday nights. Shop and Fleet Readiness Maintain an organized and efficient shop environment. Keep tools, equipment, hardware, parts, and supplies stored properly. Help prepare and stage equipment for upcoming events. Maintain commonly used replacement parts, fabrication materials, hardware, and shop supplies. Identify repair and maintenance concerns proactively rather than waiting for equipment to fail. Assist with basic vehicle and trailer readiness, including tires, batteries, lights, fluids, and general condition. Communicate larger vehicle or mechanical concerns that may require outside service. Required Qualifications Strong professional experience in fabrication, carpentry, woodworking, scenic production, construction, or a related skilled trade . Demonstrated ability to build, modify, repair, and reinforce custom equipment or structures. Experience using hand tools, power tools, woodworking equipment, and general shop machinery. Ability to measure accurately and work from sketches, measurements, concepts, or existing structures. Ability to complete projects with a clean, professional finish. Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Ability to identify practical improvements to construction, durability, transportation, and usability. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start through completion. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to repeatedly bend, lift, push, pull, and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with heavier equipment handled using team assistance or appropriate equipment. Comfortable working in both shop and live-event environments. Available for evening and weekend work, including some Saturday nights. Reliable, punctual, organized, proactive, and safety-conscious. Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation to our Boynton Beach facility. They notice damaged materials, loose hardware, worn components, weak construction, transportation concerns, poor finishes, and potential equipment failures before those issues become larger operational problems. They are comfortable moving between custom fabrication, carpentry, repairs, shop preparation, event installations, and occasional field troubleshooting. The right person takes pride in building things correctly, creating durable solutions, improving existing equipment, and delivering work that looks professional in front of clients and guests.
