Full Job Description Job Description:
Supreme Cores manufactures sand cores used by the foundry industry. The Lead Person provides training, direction, and daily leadership to employees in the Shell/Pepset core room, working under the Department Supervisor. This role coordinates daily production activities, ensures quality standards are met, and keeps the department running safely and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to all employees in the department Train new employees on proper techniques, department guidelines, quality standards, and packaging procedures Conduct first-core and hourly quality checks to ensure products meet customer expectations Plan and coordinate production, staffing, hours, and workflow to ensure on-time delivery Meet daily and weekly production schedules Complete weekly quality reports based on employee performance Advise employees on expected job completion times and proper job ticket procedures Keep the department neat, organized, and safe; assist with end-of-shift clean-up Monitor production counts and sand usage to prevent overproduction Notify the Supervisor of production or mechanical issues Ensure compliance with work rules; assist HR with disciplinary actions as needed Enforce safety guidelines, policies, and procedures Assist with machine preparation and corebox set-ups Recommend process improvements Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of similar work experience in a similar environment Reliable, honest, and dependable Strong ability to delegate and follow through Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company procedures and policies Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to read, write, and comprehend English Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Comfortable leading, taking charge, and giving direction Clear communicator with employees and supervisors Adaptable to change; able to stay calm under pressure and accept feedback
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Standing for most of the shift (up to 10 hours) Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, including overhead Exposure to wet/humid conditions, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles Work near moving mechanical parts; hearing protection required due to noise levels
Work Schedule:
4:30pm - 3am Monday through Thursday with the possibility for overtime on Fridays.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
