Position Summary:
Kris-Tech Wire, a leader in wire and cable manufacturing, is seeking a Quality & Safety Technician to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality while driving innovation and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Quality Engineer, you will support critical aspects of quality management, including manufacturing quality assurance , supplier quality management , customer quality support , regulatory compliance and certification , process optimization , workplace safety leadership , calibration program management , and quality data management within the ERP system . Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Quality Assurance Conduct daily audits of manufacturing processes to verify compliance with established quality standards. Perform inspections of in-process and finished goods to ensure specifications are met for dimensions, performance, and appearance. Collaborate with production teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues in real time. Maintain logs for extrusion, twisting, and drawing tooling, ensuring tools are in optimal condition and scheduling replacements as needed. Supplier Quality Management Inspect incoming materials for conformance with technical specifications and ensure proper documentation is maintained. Assist the Quality Engineer in communicating with suppliers regarding quality issues and driving corrective actions. Support supplier evaluations and audits to ensure alignment with Kris-Tech's quality and performance standards. Customer Quality Support Respond to customer quality-related requests, including preparing Certificates of Compliance (C of Cs), test reports, and other required documentation. Support investigations of customer complaints and product non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address inquiries and ensure customer satisfaction. Regulatory Compliance and Certification Ensure compliance with third-party standards such as UL, CSA, and ASTM through regular inspections, testing, and documentation. Prepare for and actively participate in audits conducted by certification bodies to maintain product and process certifications. Maintain records and reports required for regulatory and third-party compliance, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Process Optimization and Systems Integration Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement across operations. Monitor and analyze quality data, preparing reports for internal stakeholders to guide decision-making. ERP System Integration Facilitate quality-related data management within the ERP system, ensuring accurate and efficient integration with company processes. Use ERP tools to track quality metrics, monitor trends, and generate reports for compliance and performance analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure ERP system workflows support operational and quality objectives. Workplace Safety Leadership Conduct regular safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety policies and best practices. Promote a culture of safety through regular training sessions and workshops, including "toolbox talks" and other safety awareness activities. Perform ergonomic assessments and recommend process adjustments to enhance workplace safety and reduce risks. Collaborate with teams to implement preventive measures to maintain a safe work environment. Calibration Program Management Maintain the calibration schedule and ensure all measuring devices are calibrated according to internal requirements and industry standards. Perform calibrations of measurement tools and equipment, documenting results and maintaining accurate calibration records. Identify and resolve calibration-related issues in collaboration with production and quality teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Must-Have Skills:
3-5 years of quality assurance experience in manufacturing, ideally in wire and cable or a similar industry. Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, CSA, ASTM) and general quality management principles. Proficiency in inspection techniques and data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in supplier quality management and customer quality support. Knowledge of ERP systems and quality management software. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. Experience conducting safety audits and implementing workplace safety initiatives. Experience conducting internal audits for ISO compliance.
Soft Skills:
Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver measurable results. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to collaborate across teams and perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour
