DISTRICT DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
District Office Director Position Overview The District Director oversees the operations of the Senator's Allentown District Office and serves as a key liaison between the Senator, constituents, municipal and county officials, and other district stakeholders. The Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality constituent services, managing district office staff and interns, coordinating community engagement, and maintaining strong relationships throughout the district. This position reports to the Chief of Staff. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and collaborative professional who is comfortable working in a high-paced, highly visible environment.
A successful candidate will:
Have a strong understanding of state and local government, including the roles and responsibilities of state and municipal officials and the relationship between state and local government. Take initiative and independently identify and address needs within the district office. Be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and responsibilities simultaneously. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and follow through. Be a self-starter who can work independently while exercising sound judgement about when to seek guidance or coordinate with others. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with municipal officials, constituents, and colleagues. Be responsive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented when addressing constituent and district needs. Duties and Responsibilities District Office Management Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Senator's Allentown District Office, including staff, interns, constituent services, office procedures, and records management. Directly supervise three full-time Constituent Services Representatives, and interns as needed, providing guidance, setting priorities, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistent office output. Establish and maintain systems to ensure constituent inquiries, casework, correspondence, and follow-up are handled accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner. Ensure district staff adhere to established protocols for constituent services, meetings, correspondence, data management, and follow up. Constituent Services Oversee the delivery of high-quality, consistent, and responsive constituent services, including assistance with state programs and agencies. Monitor constituent services trends and identify recurring issues or emerging needs that may require legislative, policy, or community engagement. Communicate significant constituent concerns and district-wide issues to the Chief of Staff and recommend appropriate follow up. Municipal and District Relations Serve as the primary liaison between the Senator and municipal officials throughout the district. Establish and maintain regular communication with mayors, township managers, council members, and other local government officials to understand local priorities, projects, and issues affecting residents. Maintain a working knowledge of municipal activity and local developments throughout the district and communicate relevant issues and opportunities to the Senator and Chief of Staff. Attend meetings with municipal officials and other local representatives on behalf of the Senator. Coordinate with the External Affairs Manager as appropriate on matters involving community organizations, businesses, grants, economic development, and other external stakeholder relationships. Identify opportunities for the Senator's office to engage with municipalities and support local priorities within the scope of the office's role. Events and Community Engagement Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, resource fairs, meetings, and other district activities. Develop new opportunities for constituent engagement based on district needs and priorities. Personally staff the Senator at high-level district meetings and events or assign appropriate district staff as needed. Speak on behalf of the Senator at public events when appropriate. Ensure timely and effective follow up from meetings and events.
General Job Information:
Permanent full-time position, 75 hours bi-weekly, 8:45am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, excellent state benefits. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends required. Access to reliable transportation for events and other travel needs required. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 and commensurate with experience.
