Honolulu, HI Job Details Part-time $25 - $30 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Piano Writing skills Parent communication High school diploma or GED Working with students Teaching Office experience Full Job Description The University Laboratory School, a K-12 public charter school seeks a qualified candidate for a part-time Music Accompanist position supporting choir classes in grades 6-12. Responsibilities include accompanying choir classes and performances, assisting with student assessments, reviewing and providing feedback on sight-reading submissions, and supporting the choir director and students during instruction. The accompanist will work between 10:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.Essential Functions:
- Perform piano accompaniment for class, practice, rehearsals, and performances of school choirs.
- Assist the choir teacher in section rehearsals and concerts by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes and providing the accurate notes and rhythms.
- Coaching of individuals and ensembles by teaching notes and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching good vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students.
- Provide assistance to teachers at rehearsals as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduation
- Experience as an piano accompanist
- Knowledge of and experience in music theory, vocal techniques, and ability to sight read choral scores
- Knowledge of and experience in modern office practices, procedures and equipment
- Possess interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy to work cooperatively with others to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to students, parents, administration, teachers, and the community in a professional manner
Desirable Qualifications:
- Private or college-level training in piano and music theory
