First United Methodist Church - Woodstock, IL Woodstock, Illinois 60098 Part Time , On-Site First United Methodist Church Woodstock, Illinois Accompanist Position Summary The Accompanist supports the worship ministry of First United Methodist Church by providing piano and/or organ accompaniment in collaboration with the Music Director, Pastor, and Staff-Parish Relations Committee. Primary Function Play organ and/or piano for all worship services and accompanying praise team rehearsals during the week and before worship. Responsibilities

• Play piano and/or organ for all Sunday Worship services, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve and additional services as requested.
• Prepare Prelude, Offertory, Meditation Song and Postlude music for all services.
• Rehearse with and accompany praise team as called upon. Praise team rehearsal is currently Thursday evening during the yar, excluding summer and additional days and times as needed for special event music, such as Christmas or Easter Cantata.
• Rehearse and accompany special music performers as requested. Qualifications
• Proficiency in piano performance — able to sight-read and support congregational singing.
• Basic proficiency on pipe organ — ability to play hymns, service music, and accompany choir rehearsals.
• Experience accompanying vocalists and choirs — understanding balance, tempo, and how to support singers.
• Familiarity with traditional and contemporary church music — hymns, gospel, praise music, seasonal liturgical repertoire.
• Comfort accompanying children's choir or youth musicians.
• Experience with blended worship styles (traditional + contemporary).

Absence and Vacation Collaborate with Music Director to arrange qualified substitute for rehearsal and/or worship for planned and unplanned absences as reasonable. Provide adequate notice for plannedabsences, limiting to two per year unless otherwise agreed upon with Staff-Parish Relations Committee and Pastor. Evaluation Evaluation will be conducted annually by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. Termination Termination requests are to be submitted in writing with at least 60 days' notice.
