Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant team as a Part-Time Music Coordinator, where your passion for music will inspire and uplift our community. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine your musical talents with a meaningful purpose of supporting worship services and special events. The accompanist supports the worship ministry of First United Methodist Church by providing piano and/or organ accompaniment in collaboration with the Pastor, Praise Team Singers and Staff-Parish Relations Committee. Duties Play piano and/or organ for all Sunday Worship services (9:30am), Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve and additional services as requested. Prepare Prelude, Offertory, Meditation Song and Postlude music for all services. Perform and lead musical selections during worship services, ceremonies, and special events (funerals and weddings) Select appropriate hymns, liturgical music, and concert pieces that align with service themes or event requirements with the Pastor and Worship & Music Committee. Support the musical programs by coordinating instrument use, scheduling rehearsals, and ensuring all musical elements are prepared ahead of events, if needed. Requirements Proficiency in piano performances - able to sight-read and support congregational singing. Ability to play hymns, services music and accompany choir rehearsals. Ability to read sheet music fluently and interpret musical scores accurately. Skills in musical improvisation composition and harmonizing melodies to enhance performances. Comfort accompanying children's choir or youth musicians - as requested or needed. Experience with blended worship styles (traditional and contemporary).
