ARSENAL HARLEY-DAVIDSON GENERAL SALES MANAGER

Job Description

General Sales Manager Arsenal Harley-Davidson | Waterford, Michigan Arsenal Harley-Davidson is looking for an experienced General Sales Manager to lead our motorcycle sales operation. We are not simply looking for someone who can desk deals or close customers. We are looking for a proven sales leader who can build a team, develop managers, drive performance, hold people accountable, manage the numbers, and take ownership of the entire sales department. If you are an experienced dealership sales manager who enjoys developing people, competing for market share, improving processes, and being accountable for results, we would like to talk with you. The Opportunity Arsenal Harley-Davidson is an independently owned and operated Harley-Davidson dealership in Waterford, Michigan. Our ownership is engaged in the business, and this position will have meaningful authority and responsibility for the performance of the sales department. The right GSM will have the opportunity to build and develop a strong sales organization, not simply maintain an existing system. We want someone who can balance five things exceptionally well: People. Process. Profitability. Customer experience. Growth. This is a hands-on leadership position. We want a GSM who is visible on the sales floor, coaches in real time, understands what is happening with customers and employees, and knows the department's numbers.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
The General Sales Manager will take ownership of the overall performance of the motorcycle sales department, including: Leading new and pre-owned motorcycle sales operations Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and retaining talented salespeople and managers Training and developing the sales team Coaching salespeople and managers daily Establishing clear performance expectations Holding employees and managers accountable for results Managing showroom traffic, internet leads, phone leads, appointments, and follow-up Ensuring consistent and effective CRM utilization Monitoring lead-response and follow-up performance Desking deals and developing other managers' desking abilities Structuring deals to balance volume, gross profit, inventory objectives, and customer experience Managing new and pre-owned motorcycle inventory Monitoring inventory aging and developing strategies to move aged inventory Developing used-motorcycle acquisition and trade strategies Reviewing sales performance and KPIs daily, weekly, and monthly Conducting productive sales meetings Establishing individual salesperson goals and development plans Working closely with F&I to improve deal flow, profitability, and customer experience Partnering with Parts & Accessories, MotorClothes/Apparel, Service, and Marketing Supporting dealership events and community activities Helping increase market share Maintaining high standards for customer experience Building a competitive, accountable, professional sales culture You Should Know Your Numbers We are looking for a GSM who manages using both experience and data . You should be comfortable monitoring and acting on metrics such as: Retail motorcycle sales New vs. pre-owned performance Gross profit Front-end gross Lead volume Lead response Appointment set percentage Appointment show percentage Closing percentage Showroom traffic Salesperson productivity Units per salesperson Inventory aging Inventory turns Trade activity Market share Customer satisfaction Departmental profitability You don't have to stare at reports all day. You do need to understand what the numbers are telling you, and know what to do about them. The Leadership Style We Are Looking For The right GSM will be able to create urgency and accountability without creating unnecessary chaos.

We are looking for someone who: Leads from the front Is highly organized Communicates clearly Sets measurable expectations Follows up consistently Coaches before problems become crises Holds people appropriately accountable Recognizes strong performance Addresses poor performance Develops employees rather than simply replacing them Can distinguish between a training problem and an accountability problem Doesn't tolerate excuses becoming the culture Doesn't manage through intimidation Understands that employees deserve clear expectations and consistent leadership Understands that customers deserve an excellent buying experience Understands that the dealership must also be profitable Most importantly, we want someone who can build an organization that performs consistently, not a manager who has to personally save every deal. Qualifications Strong candidates will typically have: Successful dealership sales-management experience Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a sales team Strong desking and deal-structuring skills Experience managing dealership KPIs Strong recruiting and interviewing abilities Experience managing CRM and lead-management processes Knowledge of new and used inventory management Strong communication and organizational skills A history of achieving measurable sales results The ability to coach both experienced and developing salespeople The confidence to hold employees accountable while maintaining a productive culture Experience in Harley-Davidson, powersports, automotive, RV, marine, or another comparable dealership environment is preferred. Harley-Davidson experience is a significant advantage, but we are also interested in exceptional dealership leaders from other industries who understand retail sales management and are capable of learning our business. A genuine interest in motorcycles and the Harley-Davidson lifestyle is important. What This Position Is Not This is probably not the right opportunity if you are looking for: A position where you simply desk deals A department that runs itself A role where recruiting is someone else's responsibility A management position based primarily on tenure An environment where expectations aren't measured A job where accountability stops with the salespeople The GSM owns the department. When the department succeeds, we want you to receive the recognition for helping make that happen.

When it falls short, we expect you to understand why and have a plan to correct it. Why Arsenal Harley-Davidson? Arsenal Harley-Davidson offers the opportunity to work in an iconic industry while being part of an independently owned dealership organization. We believe good dealership leadership requires more than chasing a monthly number. We want to build teams that perform, employees who develop, customers who want to return, and dealerships that become stronger over time. You will work with engaged ownership that understands the dealership business and expects managers to have both authority and accountability . For the right person, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business.
