Rainbow Omega, Inc. is a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive vocational and residential care programs to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) are designed to offer specialized support in a vibrant, home-like environment. We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative professional to enrich our residents' lives through daily activities, community integration, and vocational skill development. Position Summary As a Life Skills Coach , you will provide vital direct support to adults with disabilities by assisting with daily living skills, implementing active treatment plans, facilitating recreational activities, and fostering pre-vocational and vocational capabilities. This position is central to promoting independence, dignity, and a high quality of life for our residents in accordance with their Individual Program Plans (IPP) and ICF/IID regulations.
Key Responsibilities Activities & Active Treatment:
Plan and deliver engaging, safe daily and weekend activities; develop and display seasonal/holiday decorations to create a festive, welcoming facility environment.
Vocational & Pre-Vocational Development:
Plan training activities that teach essential job skills (task completion, time management, teamwork); coordinate on-site and community-based volunteer or vocational opportunities.
Direct Support & Life Skills:
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and independent living skills; fill in as a resident aide when necessary to ensure strict continuity of care.
Community Integration & Transportation:
Drive facility vehicles to transport residents to on-campus and off-campus recreational events, medical appointments, and local community shopping trips.
Documentation & Compliance :
Accurately document daily participation, progress toward vocational goals, and prepare reports required by state licensing and regulatory entities.
Team Collaboration:
Actively participate in facility meetings and report any complaints, incidents, or concerns directly to the Program Director or Coordinator.
Job Requirements & Qualifications Education :
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Licensing :
Valid Driver's License with an acceptable, clean driving record (required for transporting residents).
Core Aptitude :
A strong desire and ability to work effectively and patiently with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Background Check :
Passing a clean pre-employment drug screen and a comprehensive background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working within an ICF/IID or professional vocational setting. Coursework in human services, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field. Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and CPI (or a willingness to obtain them upon hire).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and engage in physical activities throughout the shift, including assisting with lifting, transferring, and resident mobility support.
Availability :
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support resident activities.
