Full Job Description About CollegeReady:
CollegeReady is a local nonprofit with a legacy of encouraging and investing in area students to succeed in higher education. Founded in 1962, the organization has since awarded more than $14.9 million in scholarships to over 7,100 local students. Our college readiness program helps underserved youth graduate high school and become the first in their families to earn a college degree. Through active participation, students also earn an incentive-based scholarship of up to $5,000 upon high school graduation. The College Readiness Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating a college readiness curriculum for under-resourced middle school students and their families. Our curriculum focuses on enhancing reading, writing, and character development skills. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, and a high level of organization with close attention to detail. Successful candidates will bring a solid foundation in process improvement, student academic and social development, and relationship building. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Program Delivery Develop middle school programming curriculum that meets the organization's goals and objectives Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students Prepare for and facilitate weekly after-school programming for grades 6-8 Collaborate with staff to develop, create, and deliver family workshop curriculum Student Support & Development Assess student learning, development, and career interests on a regular basis Meet individually with students needing additional support to develop success plans Cultivate a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive program environment Mentor and support coaching staff and volunteers Relationships, Communication & Administration Encourage and support positive relationships among students, guardians, and school district personnel Clearly communicate programming details and events to parents and families Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships within the community Assist with student recruitment efforts in the community Maintain strict confidentiality practices Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree; Associate degree may be considered with significant relevant experience. Interest or experience working with students in an education or community setting, including leading reading, writing, or character development programming. Effective communication skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking skills. Skilled in interpersonal relationships, building trust, collaborative partnerships, and making individuals feel welcomed and valued. Excellent organizational skills with aptitude for handling multiple tasks simultaneously, managing details, problem solving, and meeting deadlines. Self-starter who works well independently but also thrives in a team environment, sharing ideas and working collaboratively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Conversational Spanish skills preferred. Must be able to operate and have access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
Status:
A full-time, salaried position in a hybrid work environment that reports to the College Readiness Director.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation range starts at $48,000 per year, commensurate with experience. An attractive benefits plan including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, along with a retirement plan and paid time off are included.
