Job Description

Pay:
$14.50 per hour Job description: About the Position We are a family seeking a reliable, compassionate caregiver for our father — an 87-year-old man living independently in west Fayetteville. This is a private, family-managed position. You would work directly with him and with us, without agency involvement. Our father is sharp, engaged, and social. He needs a caregiver who is present with him, not just "doing a job". The right person for this role will find the work genuinely rewarding.
Schedule & Compensation Days:
Sundays, 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM, occasional fill-in slots will occasionally be available as well based on caregiver availability Hours per week: 13 for Sunday shift; fill-in hours will vary based on need and availability
Pay:
$14.50 per hour Position type: Part-time, weekends only unless fill-in offers are accepted
Payment Method:
Venmo (preferred) or Paypal, with 1099 generated at end of year for tax compliance The hours listed reflect our current coverage need. We are open to candidates who cannot cover the full shift — partial availability (mornings, for example) may be considered for the right candidate. About the Client Our father has cerebral palsy, which affects his hands, legs, and speech. He is wheelchair-bound. His mind is still sharp — he is alert, opinionated — and genuinely good company. His speech can be difficult to understand at first, but most caregivers find that it becomes natural with time and attention. He lives an active life. He attends church, eats out, attends events — he lives his life. He enjoys conversation and games. He needs someone who is patient, attentive, and genuinely interested in him as a person.
Note:
The client attends church on Sundays, and accompanying him is part of this role. Candidates of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome. Caregivers are not expected to participate in the service or hold any particular religious beliefs, but will need to be present with him throughout the service. Responsibilities Bathing and grooming assistance Dressing Toileting and continence care Transfers — bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to bed, wheelchair to toilet/shower and back. Sunday transfers involve transferring to vehicle and out at church, then back to vehicle and out at home. Meal preparation and eating assistance Medication reminders Companionship & Engagement Conversation and social interaction Playing games and other activities Engaged presence — paying attention, not just occupying space Community & Transport Accompanying client in his personal vehicle (available for caregiver use for work purposes) or with family on community outings, including church on Sundays Managing whatever comes up at the destination Requirements Prior caregiving experience — professional or personal Comfort with hands-on personal care, including transfers and continence care Patience and genuine ease with a client whose speech requires time to understand Valid driver's license Must be able to pass a criminal background check and Arkansas Adult Maltreatment Central Registry check Working while impaired or under the influence of alcohol or any drugs is prohibited Must be eligible to work in the United States Preferred but not required: Non-smoker preferred; no smoking allowed in apartment, building, vehicle, or on outings CNA certification or equivalent training Experience with cerebral palsy or similar physical conditions Experience with clients who have speech or communication challenges Physical Demands This position involves regular physical assistance including transfers, personal care, and mobility support. Candidates should be physically capable of assisting with transfers and comfortable with the full range of personal care tasks.
