Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Staff Support professional, where your compassionate care and proactive assistance will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring personalized support. In this vital role, you will provide hands-on assistance with daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, respectful environment. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a nurturing atmosphere that encourages growth and well-being for those in your care. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence. Support residents with medication administration following prescribed protocols and safety guidelines. Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability. Implement behavior management strategies for individuals with dementia or cognitive disabilities to enhance their quality of life. Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely during transfers and assist with heavy lifting tasks as needed. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption, ensuring dietary needs are met in accordance with care plans. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, resident progress, and any incidents while ensuring confidentiality at all times. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or residential care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and geriatrics is essential. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training in safe patient lifting practices is a plus. Ability to operate a standard passenger car for transportation needs; valid driver's license preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members. Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking.
