Job Description

Employment Type:
Part-Time (8 hours per day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)
Location:
In-Home;
White Oak, PA Hourly Pay:
$23.00 per hour Position Summary The In-Home Caregiver / Direct Service Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, dependable, and personalized daily support for an adult individual with cerebral palsy in her home. The primary goal is to assist with activities of daily living, encourage maximum independence, and ensure a safe, engaging environment at home and in the community.
Key Responsibilities Personal Hygiene:
Assist with bathing, showering, oral hygiene, grooming, and hair care.
Dressing:
Help select appropriate clothing and assist with dressing and undressing.
Toileting:
Assist with bathroom routines, changing specialized undergarments or pull-ups, and maintaining hygiene.
Feeding & Hydration:
Prepare simple, nutritious meals/snacks, and assist with feeding or monitoring fluid intake as required.
Transfers:
Safely transfer the client between a bed and wheelchair using proper body mechanics.
Equipment Support:
Assist with mobility devices such as wheelchairs.
Physical Exercises:
Help carry out prescribed range-of-motion or physical therapy exercises at home.
Health Monitoring:
Monitor for changes in skin integrity, comfort, or overall well-being, and report concerns immediately.
Social Engagement:
Provide engaging companionship and support active participation in community life
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Previous experience as a special needs caregiver or Direct Support Professional (DSP) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely lift, bend, and perform physical transfers (often requires lifting up to a specified weight threshold, e.g., 50+ lbs).
Driver's License:
Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
Interpersonal Skills:
Patience, reliability, strong communication skills, and a positive, respectful attitude toward disability advocacy and client dignity Background check and no criminal record: Applicant must submit to criminal backgrpund check prior to employment and must have clean record.
Pay:
$23.00 per hour
