Overnight AWAKE position at Domestic Violence Shelter

Job Description

Full-Time Weekday Overnight Shelter Advocate Haven House is seeking a dependable, compassionate individual for a full-time, awake weekday overnight position. This position works five separate shifts each week—Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday—from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day. This is an awake position; sleeping during the shift is not permitted. Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential. The Overnight Shelter Advocate helps maintain a safe, positive, trauma-informed, and collaborative environment for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of domestic violence and a commitment to Haven House's mission and core values.
Responsibilities include:
Answering the crisis hotline and providing crisis intervention Conducting intakes, assessments, and safety planning Welcoming new residents and providing essential materials Providing trauma-informed support, problem-solving, and crisis management Supervising residents and responding appropriately to concerns or emergencies Accurately documenting shift activities and grant-required services Completing assigned cleaning and administrative tasks Supporting the operational needs of a 24-hour emergency shelter Maintaining professional boundaries and resident confidentiality Qualifications include: Knowledge of domestic violence and trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices A strong commitment to supporting survivors and their children Excellent crisis-intervention and problem-solving abilities Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and remain awake and alert throughout the overnight shift Basic computer proficiency Ability to operate standard office equipment, including phones, copiers, and scanners This position is grant-funded and contingent upon the continued availability of funding. Pay:
