Job Overview We're hiring a Youth Group Facilitator to lead weekly group mentoring sessions for middle and high school students at school locations throughout Newport News and Hampton. This role also includes one-on-one mentoring outside of school hours for students who need additional individualized support. The schedule is 2-3 days per week during school hours, approximately 5-10 hours weekly, aligned with the Newport News and Hampton Public Schools calendar. Duties Facilitate weekly group mentoring sessions for middle and high school students during school hours across NNPS and HCPS locations Provide individualized one-on-one mentoring outside the school setting as needed Design and lead activities that support positive decision-making, problem-solving, and personal growth Build supportive, inclusive group environments that encourage student participation Partner with school staff to identify and address student needs Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their goals. Attend periodic training and meetings as required. Qualifications High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred Minimum 2 years of experience in youth group facilitation Minimum 2 years of mentoring experience Strong facilitation and communication skills with the ability to engage at-risk youth Working knowledge of youth mental health support practices Comfortable delivering both group and one-on-one support Reliable, punctual, and able to travel between school and community locations in Newport News and Hampton QMHP Certification preferred but not required Availability during normal school hours, 2-3 days per week, approximately 5 hours total per week, plus flexibility for additional one to one sessions. Schedule 2-3 days per week, school hours, approximately 5-10 hours per week, plus additional time for one-on-one sessions as needed. Follows the
NNPS/HCPS
