Job Description
A ministry, not just a job Hillside Childcare and Learning is a ministry of Shelbyville First Church of God. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children grow and thrive, and to partner with parents as they raise their children to know and love Jesus. We believe every child is a precious gift from God. We are looking for part time and full time caregivers who shares that conviction and want to spend their days living it out. If you have been in a center where you were stretched across too many children, buried in paperwork, or treated like a number, this is a different kind of work. What you'll do
Care for and supervise a group of children, keeping safety first at all times
Plan and lead age-appropriate activities: reading, art, music, outdoor play, and hands-on learning
Share the love of Jesus with the children in your care through daily conversation, prayer, Bible stories, and Christian songs
Model Christian character in how you speak to children, to parents, and to your coworkers
Support daily routines including meals, naps, diapering, and potty training as needed
Communicate with parents throughout the day through Brightwheel, documenting activities, meals, diaper changes, and any medication administered
Follow our child pickup and release procedures to be certain every child leaves with an authorized adult
Serve as a mandated reporter, recognizing and immediately reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect
Protect the confidentiality of every child, family, and staff member
Keep your classroom clean, organized, and welcoming Who thrives here Our core values are excellence, integrity, compassion, faith, teamwork, and accountability. In practice, that means we are looking for someone who is:

Dependable. In a program our size, showing up on time every scheduled day matters enormously
Warm. Genuinely happy to be around young children, patient on the hard days

A communicator. Clear and kind with children, parents, and coworkers alike
A teammate. Willing to jump in wherever needed, because in a small program everyone does a little of everything Requirements

Willing to affirm and abide by the Statement of Faith and Beliefs of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) as amended by Shelbyville First Church of God. A full copy is provided to every applicant before an offer is made, and we encourage you to read it carefully
Able to lift up to 40 lbs and keep pace with active young children
Willing to use your personal cell phone during the workday for Brightwheel Documentation and parent communication A plus, but not required: CDA credential or early childhood coursework, prior licensed childcare experience, infant and toddler experience.
Schedule and benefits Monday through Friday, daytime hours only. Full-time and part-time positions are both available, so tell us what works for you and we will do our best to make it fit.
