Job Description

A ministry, not just a job Hillside Childcare and Learning is a ministry of Shelbyville First Church of God. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children grow and thrive, and to partner with parents as they raise their children to know and love Jesus. We believe every child is a precious gift from God. We are looking for part time and full time caregivers who shares that conviction and want to spend their days living it out. If you have been in a center where you were stretched across too many children, buried in paperwork, or treated like a number, this is a different kind of work. What you'll do
  • Care for and supervise a group of children, keeping safety first at all times
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities: reading, art, music, outdoor play, and hands-on learning
  • Share the love of Jesus with the children in your care through daily conversation, prayer, Bible stories, and Christian songs
  • Model Christian character in how you speak to children, to parents, and to your coworkers
  • Support daily routines including meals, naps, diapering, and potty training as needed
  • Communicate with parents throughout the day through Brightwheel, documenting activities, meals, diaper changes, and any medication administered
  • Follow our child pickup and release procedures to be certain every child leaves with an authorized adult
  • Serve as a mandated reporter, recognizing and immediately reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect
  • Protect the confidentiality of every child, family, and staff member

  • Faithful. A practicing Christian who is comfortable praying with children and sharing their faith naturally
  • Dependable. In a program our size, showing up on time every scheduled day matters enormously
  • Warm. Genuinely happy to be around young children, patient on the hard days
  • Steady. Calm under pressure and quick to use good judgment
  • A communicator. Clear and kind with children, parents, and coworkers alike
  • A teammate. Willing to jump in wherever needed, because in a small program everyone does a little of everything Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older and no longer enrolled in high school
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to pass a criminal history background check
  • Two non-relative references and verifiable employment history, both checked before hire
  • Willing to complete First Aid, CPR, and Universal Precautions certification, Safe Sleep training, and emergency procedures training
  • Willing to sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement covering children, families, staff, and church members
  • Willing to affirm and abide by the Statement of Faith and Beliefs of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) as amended by Shelbyville First Church of God. A full copy is provided to every applicant before an offer is made, and we encourage you to read it carefully
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and keep pace with active young children
  • Willing to use your personal cell phone during the workday for Brightwheel Documentation and parent communication A plus, but not required: CDA credential or early childhood coursework, prior licensed childcare experience, infant and toddler experience.
Schedule and benefits Monday through Friday, daytime hours only. Full-time and part-time positions are both available, so tell us what works for you and we will do our best to make it fit.
  • Paid biweekly, every other Wednesday, by check or direct deposit
  • Certification costs reimbursed after 60 days of employment
  • Annual raise review for staff in good standing after one year of service

  • Each worker is allowed up to 1 of their own children to attend for free Our hiring process 1.

Pay:
$13.50 - $16.00 per hour
