Job Description

Christ the King Catholic Parish in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a part-time Coordinator of Youth Formation. The Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation and Discipleship is responsible for coordinating the Catholic youth ministry program at Christ the King Catholic Parish. The coordinator will help youth grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, deepen their Catholic faith, develop leadership skills, and become active participants in the life of the Church. The Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation and Discipleship will help the youth of Christ the King Catholic Parish know Christ, love Christ, live their Catholic faith, and grow as disciples through prayer, formation, service, and fellowship.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church ("the Diocese") entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The list of duties below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job. As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Coordinate and lead youth group activities for parish youth, including high school students and Confirmation students Plan and coordinate faith formation, prayer, social activities, service projects, retreats, and days of reflection Encourage youth participation in Mass, the Sacraments, prayer, and the life of the parish Communicate youth ministry activities and events to youth and their families Encourage youth leadership, service, and discipleship Maintain appropriate records, schedules, and permission forms Coordinate approved youth ministry fundraising activities as needed Work collaboratively with parish staff and pastor Serve as a liaison with diocesan youth ministry resources when appropriate Maintain regular communication with the Pastor regarding youth ministry activities, needs, and concerns Perform other duties as assigned by the
Pastor Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress Must maintain confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Texas driver's license Must be a fully initiated, practicing Roman Catholic who supports and lives the teachings of the Catholic Church A genuine love for youth and a desire to share and strengthen their Catholic faith Previous experience in youth ministry, parish ministry, Catholic education, or a related field preferred Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to use Microsoft Office and social media platforms
Additional Requirements:
Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures.
