The Chaplain provides spiritual care and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families in the home and inpatient settings. The Chaplain assesses patients' and families' spiritual needs and provides compassionate counseling and support throughout the hospice experience. Key Responsibilities Provide spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to patients and their families. Assess and address the spiritual needs of patients and family members. Make reasonable efforts to facilitate visits from local clergy, pastoral counselors, and other spiritual care resources as requested. Support patients and families from diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds. Participate as a core member of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) and collaborate with the hospice care team. Maintain appropriate documentation of spiritual assessments, visits, interventions, and patient/family needs. Provide compassionate support during end-of-life care and bereavement as appropriate.
Qualifications Education:
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of hospice experience required. One (1) year of experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare institution preferred.
Skills:
Working knowledge of community spiritual and support resources; excellent interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills. Ability to work compassionately and professionally with patients, families, caregivers, clergy, and interdisciplinary team members.
Transportation:
Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current automobile liability insurance are required.
