IT Manager / IT Director Position Summary Unicorr Packaging Group is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to join our Information Technology team in North Haven, CT. The Desktop Support Technician will provide day-to-day technical support to employees across the organization, ensuring that computers, applications, network-connected devices, and other technology systems are functioning effectively. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working directly with users, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Provide first- and second-level technical support to employees for hardware, software, and technology-related issues. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment. Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, email, printers, network connectivity, and common business applications. Create, manage, and update user accounts, passwords, permissions, and access as directed by IT policies. Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including computer setup, account access, equipment deployment, and collection of IT assets. Respond to help desk tickets, prioritize requests, document troubleshooting steps, and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. Provide technical support to both office and manufacturing-floor employees. Support barcode scanners, label printers, production-related workstations, and other technology used within the manufacturing environment. Assist with deployment, configuration, and maintenance of PCs and other endpoint devices. Perform routine hardware and software maintenance and assist with inventory and asset management. Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff, vendors, or other appropriate resources. Assist with network, server, cybersecurity, backup, and infrastructure-related projects as needed. Follow company IT security policies and help maintain secure computing practices. Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, configurations, procedures, and recurring technical issues. Provide clear, professional communication to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge. Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, software deployments, and other initiatives as assigned. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in desktop support, help desk, IT support, or a similar technical role. 30% travel Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365. Experience supporting PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment. Familiarity with Active Directory and user/account administration. Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and general networking concepts. Experience using a help desk or ticketing system. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the IT team. Ability to occasionally lift, move, and install IT equipment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting users in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD and Microsoft Intune. Familiarity with endpoint management and deployment tools. Experience supporting printers, scanners, barcode equipment, and production-floor technology. Familiarity with basic cybersecurity principles and endpoint security. CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or other relevant IT certifications. Experience with ERP, manufacturing, warehouse, or production-management systems. The technician should be comfortable working throughout the facility, including areas where manufacturing equipment and production operations are present. The position may occasionally require working outside normal business hours to support system upgrades, maintenance, or critical IT issues. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility during the workday. Ability to lift and carry typical IT equipment such as desktop computers, laptops, monitors, and printers. Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment. Ability to safely access equipment located in offices, workstations, and production areas.
