Sr. Database Developer

Job Description

The Sr. Database Developer is responsible for developing and supporting SQL server database solutions within both the production and development environments. In addition, this position may provide training and mentorship to less experienced staff.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Designs and implements robust, efficient, and scalable database solutions to support the company's applications and data requirements. Develops and maintains data models, schemas, and relationships to ensure data integrity and optimal performance. Writes SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to support various application needs and reporting requirements. Monitors and optimizes database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage. Implements and maintains database security measures, including access control, encryption, and auditing to safeguard sensitive data. Collaborates with application developers to design and implement efficient data integration processes and ETL pipelines. Other duties as needed or assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Advanced level of self-sufficiency and initiative working on database projects. Advanced level of analytical, organizational, documentation, and communications skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline oriented environment. Advanced level of knowledge of .NET and legacy applications that interact with SQL. Advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database development. Advanced level of knowledge of managing multiple MS SQL Server databases on large systems. Advance level of knowledge in monitoring and tuning databases. Advanced level of knowledge of Transactional SQL and stored procedures. Intermediate understanding of entity framework and team foundation server (TFS).
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience in developing Windows and/or web based SQL applications.
