QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Master's degree from an accredited university. 2. An academic background or experience that includes training in K-12 curriculum, instructional practices, and the use and applications of instructional technologies. 3. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in an area of Special Education. 4. Five years successful classroom teaching experience that included use of instructional technology. 5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teachers and support staff by helping them integrate technology applications into their instructional practices. 6. Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot technology hardware. 7. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 8. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

1. Ability to work cooperatively to support school-based technology representatives in long

  • and short-range technology planning to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services.

2. Ability to review, evaluate and recommend most current commercial software and hardware for integration into curriculums. Includes, but not limited to, word processing adaptive equipment, spreadsheets, internet, e-mail, etc. 3. Coordinate the purchase and distribution of technology equipment according to building plans. 4. Provide on-site support to center-based schools on a regularly scheduled basis. 5. Communicate effectively with MISD teachers and support staff to ensure that technology applications are efficiently integrated. 6. Ability to develop budget accordingly for purchase of technology hardware and materials. 7. Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO

1. Design and conduct professional development programs within identified focus areas 2. Provide leadership and instructional direction to local school districts and public school academies regarding issues of concern to special educators. 3. Consult with local school personnel on implementation of research-based strategies designed to improve the performance of students with disabilities. 4. Support local districts in evaluating, assessing and intervening with highly complex students. 5. Collaborate as a member of a local district or Macomb Intermediate School District team to provide second opinion evaluations and/or consultations for assigned students. 6. Maintain knowledge or current research, leading edge developments, and legal mandates related to instruction of students with disabilities. 7. Serve as a resource to families, school personnel, agencies, professional organizations and others. 8. Other assignments as determined by the Assistant Superintendent or designee. 9. Serve as a County liaison for local school psychologist and school social workers. 10. Participate in the development or a countywide system of information, technical assistance, training and support in the areas of evaluation, assessment, intervention, behavior and learning.
