Job Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic and responsible role, you will operate school buses, providing a secure and comfortable environment for the children of Sullivan County. Your dedication will help foster a positive school experience, promote safety, and support community connectivity. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while honing your driving skills and customer service expertise. Duties Safely operate school buses according to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Ensure the safety of all passengers by following child behavior management protocols and passenger safety procedures. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment. Respond quickly to traffic changes, road conditions, or emergencies with appropriate driving techniques such as emergency stop procedures and defensive driving. Maintain clear communication with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using effective communication skills. Follow school policies on student discipline and behavior management to promote a respectful environment onboard. Complete all required documentation accurately, including trip logs, incident reports, and vehicle inspection records. Experience Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver's license suitable for operating large vehicles such as school buses is desirable, but we will train the right candidate. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels. Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable but not required. Embark on a rewarding career that combines safe driving with meaningful community service!
