Overview Join our dedicated team as a Patient Transport Driver specializing in Ambulatory and Wheelchair services! In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and reliable driver ensuring patients are transported safely, comfortably, and on time within healthcare facilities or between locations. Your energetic approach and commitment to excellent customer service will help create a positive experience for every patient you assist. This position offers a dynamic work environment where your driving skills and compassion make a meaningful difference in patient care. Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vehicles, including vans, shuttle buses, and wheelchair-accessible transport vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Assist patients with mobility needs, including loading and unloading wheelchairs and ensuring proper securement during transit. Navigate local driving routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely arrivals at scheduled destinations. Communicate clearly with patients, healthcare staff, and dispatch teams to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times while providing excellent customer service. Conduct routine vehicle inspections, maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure safety standards are maintained. Follow all state transportation regulations and healthcare protocols related to medical transportation services. Handle heavy lifting of wheelchairs or mobility aids with proper manual handling techniques to prevent injury. Qualifications Prior experience as a delivery driver, bus driver, limousine chauffeur, shuttle driver, or personal vehicle delivery is highly desirable. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vans or passenger vehicles preferred. Knowledge of GPS navigation tools and local driving routes to optimize efficiency. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and coordination with healthcare teams. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while lifting or securing mobility devices or patients' belongings. Familiarity with traffic regulations, state transportation laws, and safety standards for medical transportation is a plus.
