Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized equipment for transporting hazardous materials or dangerous goods. Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across regional or national destinations. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Maintain compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and other safety standards during all phases of transportation. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure. Document delivery activities accurately, including logs for hours of service, load details, and delivery confirmation. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered on the road. Skills Valid CDL A license with clean driving record and experience operating tractor-trailers in various conditions. Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks and handling different trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialty equipment. Strong knowledge of logistics cargo handling, load & unload procedures, and truck loading/unloading techniques. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time tracking during deliveries. Experience in automobile transportation or freight delivery driving within regulated environments. Understanding of FMCSA regulations related to commercial truck driving, hazardous materials handling, and safety protocols.
