Synopsis:

A mother, father, daughter, and son move through their lives with the rhythm of a classic family sitcom, complete with canned laughter, applause, and the promise that every problem can be neatly resolved. But there is a door no one wants to acknowledge. Whenever a family member looks toward it, television static interrupts their world and brief glimpses of a different reality begin to appear. As the interruptions become harder to ignore, the image of the "perfect American family" begins to fracture. Blending 1950s sitcom aesthetics with psychological horror, "The Standard" explores conformity, gender roles, nostalgia, and the mythology of the traditional American nuclear family.
