Summary of Position Description The Board will support the work of Reach for Resources, Inc. and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While the Executive Director leads day-to-day operations, the Board-Staff relationship is a partnership, and the involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. We are specifically interested in candidates with experience in the following areas:

• Finance, accounting, or financial strategy
• Legal, compliance, or risk management
• Business leadership and operations Essential Duties Leadership, governance, and oversight
• Participate in developing a vision, mission, and purpose of the organization.
• Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as they develop and implement the strategic plan.
• Reviewing outcomes, evaluating impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness
• Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
• Approving Reach's annual budget, audit reports, strategic plan, and ensure proper financial controls are in place.
• Selecting, supporting, and evaluating the performance of the Executive Director
• Participate in monitoring the organization's programs and services.
• Assisting the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
• Assisting the board in identifying an interim and new Executive Director, should the need arise.
• Partnering with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are conducted.
• Attending board meetings and serving on at least one board committee; board members can also take on special assignments.
• Representing Reach to stakeholders; serving as an advocate and acting as an ambassador for the organization
• Ensuring Reach's commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Reach serves.

Other responsibilities of board members:

Uphold the legal duties and laws regarding nonprofit governance. Follow the organization's bylaws, policies, and board resolutions. Sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it during the year, if necessary, as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual conflicts during meetings Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve the organization's mission. Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization's fundraising and reputational standing and potentially influence public policy. Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of the organization. Fundraising Board Members are asked to consider Reach a philanthropic priority and to make an annual gift(s) that reflects that commitment. Each Board Member is encouraged to contribute at a level that is meaningful to them. Board terms/participation. Reach Board Members will attend and actively participate in board meetings and Reach events each year. Each board member serves a three-year term and can be eligible to serve up to two additional terms after an interview with the Talent Development Committee of the Board, which will be based on the level of participation. Board meetings occur 6 times per calendar year along with committee meetings and dedicated events. Minimum Qualifications This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about Reach's mission. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. Their accomplishments will allow them to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: Professional experience with accomplishments in business, marketing, human resources, development, healthcare, information systems, government, legal, or the nonprofit sector. A commitment to and understanding Reach's mission, services, and supports. Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and building consensus among diverse individuals. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of the individuals supported through Reach. Preferred professional background and experience in Finance, Business Operations and Management, or as a practicing attorney. Prior non-profit board experience, particularly with building and expanding donor base and relationships, preferred but not required.
