The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) of Harris County is seeking qualified Harris County residents to serve as ARB Members. The ARB is a citizen board made up of Harris County residents who sit in panels of three to hear testimony, review evidence, and determine property owner protests that cannot be resolved administratively by Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) staff. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are fair-minded, professional, comfortable reviewing information and evidence, and interested in serving the Harris County community. What You'll Do As an ARB Member, you will: Serve on three-member panels to hear property owner protests Listen objectively to testimony from property owners and HCAD representatives Review documents, evidence, and other information presented during hearings Ask appropriate questions to clarify the information presented Make fair, impartial, and independent decisions based on the evidence Follow applicable laws, procedures, and ARB guidelines Maintain professionalism and impartiality throughout the hearing process Schedule & Availability - Please Read Carefully Although ARB hearings are held throughout the year, this opportunity requires a significant time commitment during peak hearing season, typically from mid-May through October.
