$75,000 - $100,000 The Business Analyst is a contributing team member in gathering insights, updating recurring analysis, and utilizing data to support or recommend business decisions. They will use their knowledge to passionately deliver well-designed presentations, data products and services to the California Strawberry Commission and its members. This individual will participate in the process of improving business workflows and implementing information systems solutions. This position will work under the management of the Information Systems Manager, and provide opportunities to collaborate with the commission leadership, other internal stakeholders, and consultants. This position requires the ability to perform essential in-person activities, with the appropriate safeguards, including a vaccination(s) in accordance with Title VI, theADA, EEOC
guidance, and FEHA.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the trends and issues affecting the California strawberry industry.
- Gather, clean, and organize data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and anomalies, to support the strawberry agriculture community.
- Create, schedule, and manage reports and business intelligence products to aid in daily/recurring business processes, decision making or support, and in support of strawberry farming.
- Gather, analyze, translate and document business needs into technical specifications for process development or improvement, data solutions, web and application development and related solutions.
- Participate in survey creation, implementation, analysis, and presentations.
- Appropriately maintain documentation including but not limited to data sources, data schemas, methodologies, user manuals, training material, standard operating procedures (SOP), workflow and process diagrams.
- Support and follow data governance and best practices across the organization.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned to the impromptu needs of the commission.
- A commitment to an ongoing professional development of data and business analysis skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications:

The qualification requirements below are representative of the knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- BA or BS degree in computer science, data science, information systems, economics, statistics, mathematics or a related discipline. - Familiarity with data analysis tools including Power Bi , and MS SQL.
- Advanced capabilities (power queries, power pivot) with Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and interpret graphs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a deadline-oriented environment where priorities may change and are driven by external factors.
- Good communication skills: ability to explain technical projects in simple terms
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biliterate in English and Spanish languages (spoken and written)
- Experience with Python
