Professional Licensure Bureau:
The Professional Licensure Bureau (PLB) provides services to educators to assist them in obtaining and maintaining their New Mexico (NM) Educator Certification. Educators are certified in many areas, including early childhood, elementary, secondary, special education, administration, ancillary and support providers, and approved endorsements. The unit also assists out-of-state/out-of-country educators in obtaining NM Certification and supports LEA's(local education agency) Human Resource departments throughout the state to meet the needs of their educators. This site provides general licensing information, procedures, and license records. Our Mission At the heart of our work, the PLB is dedicated to advancing equity and excellence for all students. We do this by serving as a resource for school leaders, educators, and staff, fostering collaboration with communities, and leading with data-driven best practices. Results The Licensure Bureau is responsible for processing applications for all licensed employees that work in New Mexico schools. The bureau licenses everyone from substitute teachers to superintendents and everyone in between. The team processes over 25,000 applications for licensure annually. Why does the job exist? To provide support and technical assistance to applicants and licensed individuals. Additionally, the position exists to support the Licensure Manager with the daily operational tasks of the Bureau. How does it get done? Manage the Licensure Bureau front desk including: independently reviewing and responding to emails from applicants, licensed individuals, and human resource departments answer all calls routed to the front desk line, provide concise courteous responses, and/or forward to a consultant or manager greet and assist all constituents who come for in person assistance, reassign when appropriate review and assign daily mail to licensure consultants and licensure manager when needed, support consultants in licensure and backgrounds with review and issuing during peak times manage daily deposit reconciliation. Who are the customers? All NM LEAs and education stakeholders. Ideal Candidate All NM LEAs and education stakeholders. Minimum Qualification Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
