Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA
SCHEDULE
Full time, 40 hours/week, M-F 8-4:30
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Consultant is a member of the internal consulting group that works with the hospital executive team. The team uses several industry-wide methodologies (lean, six sigma, project management) to improve processes and implement strategic initiatives. The Business Consultant is responsible for defining the scope, identifying areas for improvement, leading the project, and ensures task completion and issue resolution. The Business Consultant is an agent of change and must also be capable of forming relationships quickly at all levels in the organization, be able to adapt to changing priorities, demonstrate executive presence, possess effective interpersonal skills, be able to establish good working relationships, be able to foster cooperation in others, and be a creative problem-solver. The Business Consultant must be able to deliver executive level presentations, effectively delegate work, hold others accountable for deliverables, and effectively communicate with key project stakeholders of project status and issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides business consulting and support for strategic initiatives at the request of hospital leadership Assumes the leadership role or partners with Project Champion/Lead to implement project or strategic initiative Defines project scope, goals, project and change management plan Communicates project status and potential risks with key stakeholders Identifies areas of opportunity for the department to provide expertise and works with management to move forward Partners with other team members to provide additional support, when needed Facilitates conversation with project teams to provide a cooperative environment of open communication and mutual respect among all team members Delivery of executive level presentations Supports process improvement training by either providing classroom instruction or student mentorship/feedback Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree 5+ years health care or business experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree Healthcare, Business, Process Engineering Prior experience managing complex on-going projects Prior experience working with health care leaders and/or in an academic medical organization Six Sigma Certification or Project Management Certification We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
