Senior Business Systems Analyst - Commodity Trading (Hybrid)

Inver Grove Heights, MN (Hybrid Preferred) | Remote considered for highly qualified candidates Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support business-critical commodity trading and hedging operations. This role serves as the bridge between Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Back Office, and IT teams, translating business needs into scalable technology solutions while supporting enterprise trading applications. The ideal candidate has a strong background supporting commodity trading operations, experience working with
ETRM/CTRM
platforms, and the ability to lead business analysis efforts throughout the full project lifecycle—from requirements gathering through production support and stabilization. Responsibilities Lead business analysis activities for commodity trading and hedging initiatives from discovery through deployment and post-production support. Partner with Trading, Risk, Operations, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Document current and future-state business processes, trade workflows, integrations, controls, and exception handling. Collaborate with technical teams on solution design, system configuration, integrations, and data flow across front, middle, and back-office applications. Support data analysis and reporting requirements related to positions, exposures, P&L, settlements, confirmations, and reconciliation. Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, execution, defect management, and issue resolution. Analyze production issues, perform root cause investigations, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and drive timely resolution of application incidents. Support deployment planning, release readiness, production stabilization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and maintain operational documentation, support procedures, and knowledge-sharing resources. Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders while mentoring junior analysts and promoting best practices across business analysis and solution delivery. Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst supporting commodity trading, hedging, or trading operations. Strong experience gathering business requirements, process mapping, functional design, and stakeholder management. Proven experience supporting enterprise trading applications throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, testing, deployment, and post-production support. Experience coordinating SIT, UAT, defect triage, incident management, and production support activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience performing root cause analysis and coordinating issue resolution. Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ION Openlink (Endur/Openlink), ION XTP, or other
ETRM/CTRM
platforms. Experience supporting commodity trading, risk management, settlements, confirmations, market data, or trade lifecycle processes. Familiarity with integrations between trading systems, accounting platforms, reporting solutions, and downstream operational systems. Experience working in regulated or highly controlled environments with strong focus on governance, auditability, and operational controls.
