Full Job Description Location:
Salt Lake City, Utah On-site five days a week No remote or hybrid option Full-time contract with the potential to convert to a permanent position Ellofant is a modern consulting firm built for those who want to do work that actually moves the needle. We help companies navigate change, complexity, and scale through a blend of strategic thinking, trusted technology, and hands-on execution. Our clients rely on us not just for advice, but for building systems, launching products, and driving outcomes that matter. At Ellofant, we value clarity over jargon, momentum over perfection, and people over process. We're looking for curious, driven individuals who want to solve real problems with real impact. If you're excited about challenging what's possible and delivering meaningful change while you're at it, Ellofant might be your next move. About the role Ellofant is looking for a Platform Strategy Lead to own the business side of a new platform being built to help a division inside a Fortune 50 financial services firm manage its future. This is not an analytics dashboard project. This is a business platform. It will absorb the personal workflows, hand built spreadsheets, and scattered source systems the division runs on today, and give operators one place to see, decide, and act. You will be the business's expert on process, data, and the shape of the future operating model. You will own requirements end to end and translate them into a solution that lets the business build its own views, generate insights, dispatch alerts, and take action, without waiting on engineering for every question. Views and dashboards are one surface of this platform. They are not the point. The point is a system the division uses to run itself. This is a business architect role in everything but title. Technology partners should not have to interrupt operators to understand what needs to be built. You absorb that interruption and give tech teams a clear, defensible picture of what good looks like. You are not the person writing production pipelines, shipping code, or building models. You are the person who defines what needs to exist, brings analytical rigor to how the business thinks about its own data, and holds the vision until it is real. What you will do Own the business side of the platform, from vision through delivery, in a division that today runs on Excel packs, hand built workflows, and stitched together source systems Shape what the platform becomes. Not just what it reports, but what it manages. Workflows, alerts, actions, state changes that flow back to source systems, and the surfaces the business uses to run the division day to day Become the deepest business expert on how work happens today, sitting alongside the operators, mapping the data flows, and understanding the rhythm of the year and the moments when decisions actually get made Design the future state. Views, KPIs, alerts, and the source to action loop that closes the gap between insight and change in the underlying systems Bring analytical rigor to how the business defines its own metrics. Interrogate calculations, question assumptions, and force clarity on what a number actually measures before it becomes a KPI Write and hold requirements. Own the backlog from the business side and translate needs into specifications technology can act on without second guessing Serve as the primary point of contact for technology partners. Answer their questions, sharpen their scope, and protect operators from meeting fatigue Read the existing tooling landscape. Understand what operators do today in Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and Excel, and define what the platform needs to absorb, replace, or leave alone Lead the awareness campaign for the new platform inside the division. Rally the business around a shared vision of the future of work Measure success not by dashboards shipped but by the shift in how the division spends its time What we are looking for At least seven years of relevant experience in platform strategy, business architecture, analytics strategy, business intelligence, data science, or analytics consulting, ideally inside financial services Direct experience shaping a business platform or operating system that a function used to run itself. Not just a reporting layer, but a system that connected views, decisions, alerts, and actions back to source data Analytical mindset with real depth. You are comfortable with statistical thinking, hypothesis framing, and interrogating a dataset before drawing conclusions from it. Formal data science background welcome, though this role is not a modeling or production data science role Fluency with Alteryx, Power BI, and Tableau as a power user and requirements owner. You understand what these tools let people do, where they run out of runway, and how to define what should replace them. You are not the technical implementer who ships production pipelines Working literacy in SQL and Python or R, enough to explore a dataset, sanity check a calculation, and speak the language of the data science and engineering teams you work with. You are not expected to write production code A track record of translating business needs into a modern data and application platform. Warehouse or lakehouse, semantic layer, dashboards, alerting, workflow, and write back to source systems Experience leading programs where you owned the business side end to end, from discovery through delivery Fluent in both the operator's morning and the platform team's roadmap. You translate between them without losing anything in either direction A systems thinker who can hold the enterprise plan, the execution layer, and the metrics layer in mind at once, and see where they should connect A quiet force who influences without formal authority. You get sponsors, operators, and engineers pointed at the same outcome through clarity, not escalation A storyteller. You can turn a data model into a narrative a division head cares about Someone who understands that a spreadsheet is a signal. Every personal workflow inside the business is telling you where the platform failed and what to build next Comfort with ambiguity. Some of the ask will not be written down. Your job includes finding it Ability to work on-site in Salt Lake City five days a week Nice to have Direct exposure to Internal Audit, Risk, or Compliance functions inside a bank Formal training in statistics, data science, or a quantitative discipline Experience with platform rebrands or awareness campaigns that shifted how a function saw itself Familiarity with configurable low code platforms, API driven architectures, event driven alerting patterns, and workflow systems How we expect AI to be used We want someone who knows how to use AI to work faster and more effectively. AI can help with research, analysis, first drafts, documentation, and presentation development. AI will never replace thoughtful work, sound judgment, or attention to detail. Anything created with AI must be reviewed in detail, verified, tailored to the audience, and improved before it is shared. Generic or lightly edited AI output will not meet the quality expected in this role. What success looks like You bring structure to unclear problems and help stakeholders turn their ideas into a system that can actually be built and used. Your requirements are detailed and easy to follow. Your data models and calculations are thoughtful and accurate. Your presentations are clear, polished, and appropriate for senior leadership. Most importantly, you earn the trust of the people you work with and help move the platform forward. Why This Role Matters If you get satisfaction from being the person a division turns to when it wants to understand its own data, from shaping the platform a business function will use to run itself going forward, and from knowing your work directly changes how people spend their days, this is your role. You will be the business's brain trust on data, process, and platform inside one of the world's largest financial services firms, and the system you help shape will define how the division works.
