Our team thrives on collaboration, safety, and craftsmanship, and we are looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to keep our operations running smoothly. Responsibilities Position Overview As our Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw steel, hardware, shop supplies, and subcontract services necessary for our fabrication projects. Your deep understanding of the steel industry and your hands-on experience with Enterprise Project Management (EPM) software will be vital to ensuring materials arrive on time, within budget, and to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing:
Source structural shapes, plates, bar stock, grating, and miscellaneous metals from approved steel service centers and mills.
ERP/EPM Management:
Utilize ERP/EPM software to track inventory, generate purchase orders, manage project material requirements, and reconcile invoices.
Vendor Negotiations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, lead times, and favorable terms.
Tracking & Receiving Orders :
Coordinate shipping with vendors and receiving BOL documents
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure all purchased materials meet ASTM standards and project submittal specifications (Mill Test Reports). Maintain consumables Inventory of REM/stock materials Qualifications & Requirements Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, or Material Coordinator specifically within the structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication industry. Proficiency and hands-on experience using ERP/EPM software for inventory and project tracking. Strong ability to read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel drawings, blueprints, and bill of materials (BOM). Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
